How to buy the Book/WebAssign Access Code

book cover image

For this course, you must purchase two things, although there are several different ways to do this:

  1. The book: Charles Mckeague, Algebra with Trigonometry for College Students, 5th edition. Brooks Cole, 2002.

  2. The WebAssign access code

There are several different ways that you can purchase these two items:

  1. The book/access code bundle contains a new copy of the book and a WebAssign access code packaged together. This is the best option if you want to buy a new book. There are two different ways that you can buy the book bundle:

    1. A traditional hardcover book bundled with the code (available at the BMCC bookstore and perhaps Manhattan books - see picture at the top of this page for an image of the book cover).

    2. A custom "loose leaf" paper book bundled with the code (available at the publisher's website - see below). The "loose leaf" version has all the same pages as the hardcover book, but instead of being bound with a hard cover, the pages come so that they could be put into a three-ring binder.
This option is less expensive (and may be more convenient, since you don't have to carry the whole book around with you), but it might have less resale value if you plan to sell the book later, and it looks less finished than the traditional hardcover book.

  2. The eBook/access code bundle contains access to an online eBook and a WebAssign access code which is mailed to you at your physical address. If you prefer an eBook, this is your best option. This is available at the publisher's website (see below).

  3. Buying a used book and the access code separately may be a good option if you can find a used book cheaply (check the new book bundle prices first - they may be cheaper than buying a used book and the access code separately!). The best way to buy the access code by itself is to simply login to WebAssign and register for the course, and then to follow the prompts to pay for access that should look like the image below:WebAssign purchase screen image

You do not need to buy the book at these particular stores. These are just a few suggestions of reputable bookstores that I am aware of that have carried the book in the past. I cannot guarantee that any of these stores will have the book in stock at the time you go to order it or that any of them have the best price. If you look around, you may be able to find other stores that carry the book at which you would prefer to shop - just be sure you buy the correct book and access code combination!
